while we unto these means resort
until the day we're gone
health is not prioritized
not until we're sick
then we get quite mortified
once the fever's thick
something thin and something heavy
pressing in the midst

coughing lungs in fits
delerium is setting in
no fear is always betting in
the currency of time
too cool to ring the chime
a spectre dark and thin
has come to do you in
the veil of self deceit
won't quit till you're complete
hiding in the sanctuary
of the bag of tricks you carry
what is that released in you
trace it back to what is true
there may be a someone who
can get inside the lost tabu
expose the urban myth inside
the legend of the ghost who cried
who knows what at the base could lie
beneath emotion's sky
but fantasy will not comply
with what the truth will satisfy
it keeps on searching by and by
and cannot find her soul mate
though time and time again you try
the effort's not your alibi
it's more like custard in your eye
it's wasted on the toll rate
for somewhere instinct took a dump
the data in your gut got stumped
and you went round and round in the process
you could have cut the middle man - I digress
you don't need psycho babble or hypnosis
there's something that's much better for your progress
I don't mean you ignore the diagnosis
