a someone to befriend on
they'll always seek to heal you
emotionally they feel you
all that you go through
no matter what you do
they receive you
they believe you
go out of their way to relieve you
of burdens you must bear
when psychic scars need care
they will not take advantage of your needs
they'll protect you from the places passion leads
by simply being there at times when you're
confused by what life means or feel unsure
a friend will always seek to guard your heart
assure you of their love from the start
wherever you may rome
their heart is still your home
a friend will pray for you
feel pain that you go through
even when you two
are miles apart
a friend will always seek to guard your heart
a friend sees your potential and believes
there's someone inside who nobody sees
a friend will not be jealous
or make you so, as well as,
they'll laugh when you are glad
they'll comfort you when sad
a friend will step aside when you need space
they'll understand the look upon your face
a friend will somehow know
when you are feeling low
when you need a helping hand
or support to make a stand
they will show you who you are with just a smile
and they'll love you unconditionally all the while.
And if there ever should be something more
A friend will see if love is at the door
some goodbyes are bitter sweet
but a true friend seeks to be
first and last a someone you can trust and know
a person you can find the room to grow
who will let go if need be
give you wings to set you free
and be someone you could love eternally
whether they become your love
or invitee.
