what is our place
in this sovereign grace
and how to respond appropriately
we ran the race
and sought the face
of the God who saves most copiously
we fought the fight
in armor of light
we ministered to the oppressed
we did what's right
in human sight
so why are we now stressed
and what about the rest
all those who weren't so blessed
some didn't pass the test
disqualified obsessed
the vision became a business
with politics egregious
the laity was clay you see
and molded by church polity
the vestibules
were nests of rules
imposed on backs of testy mules
and podiums
promoted bums
who drove the mules to kingdom come
the scattered will be gathered
nothing else will matter
only that which shall endure
clinging to the one thing sure
the truth will triumph in the end
for all who know God as their friend
the railer and contentious
will both be burned in censures
self-medicating addicts
will renovate their attics
cable tv pray-ers
no longer just soothsayers
psychological smoothing
will undergo uprooting
ego boosting pep talks
will fall by wayside cross walks
the left will rise and fall
the land will heed the call
the plagues will creep and crawl
but not touch us at all
only the unprotected
fall prey to the infected
the murderers and pimps
will run away like wimps
but they won't get too far
they're busted at fubar
abortionists
molesters
millstones sink their vessels
paranoids and liars
burned in unquenchable fires
and all that does offend
removed before the end
so let us not pretend
make Jesus your best friend.
