There above the mantle was a sign upon the wall
and it said "don't pull this handle -- it will cause the sky to fall"
so one day she pulled the plug out and it opened up a hole
which began to suck the world into itself out of control
first to go was Gemma (she's the one who pulled the plug)
then her cat, which she named Emma, then the household, then the rug,
And on it went from there until the whole world disappeared
And not a soul was left to shake their head and say, "she's weird!"
Cornelius, in his space ship set trajectory, to return
To the planet he grew up on and the race he'd learned to spurn
But gravity seemed concentrated all upon one spot
In an undefined location on a planet that was not
He reset initial coordinates to the planet that he'd found
And wept a tear for sucked up Gemma, it was for her he was bound,
"Life won't be the same" as off ionosphere he bounced
Then he winked and said "oh well there's plenty more in Veda Flounct!"
