a crown of thorns upon your head
arms nailed down and bloody red
shredded skin on rough hewn wood
how could this turn out for good

what kind of sick religion this
such violence indigenous
to worst case death scenarios
of execution archive lows
more than inquisition
this was our condition
the crown of thorns - mental torment
arms nailed down - helpless dormant
shredded skin - unprotected
rugged cross - intersected
God incarnate became one
with our judgment as the Son
beat the devil at his game
took away our guilt and shame
now take Jesus as your king
you will lack in no good thing
He was raised up from the dead
stripped those thorns off of our head
only scars left in the hand
that leads us to the Promised Land
Love shed abroad by the Holy Ghost
saving the soul to the uttermost
covers us and keeps us safe
health and healing all by faith
angels watching over us
if we follow JeSus...
