nocturnal state
isn't it great
time alone to appreciate
moments, reflections
and meditate
on every promise revealed to date
in the word that did create
the rock in which to hide away
till the night returns to day
every word that God did say
brings us safely where
angels wouldn't dare
mortals couldn't fare
no more drowned in care
never to dispair
love is everywhere
breathe the purest air
as we act we learn
to pass through fire unburned
of grace we have not earned
and all that faith returns
save us from our plight
by your marvellous light
lead us to what's right
from the endless night
