2008-08-25 - the bird, the toad & the oyster
Sloopy sashayed down the road and toad's heart followed after he had to stay here where he owed commitment, life and laughter and on the way she met a bird who spoke to her in riddles while toad surmounted overload and sowed seeds for his viddles she remembered toad at times as toad remembered her but what could not be told in rhymes became a gentle blur the bird told stories strong and weak deceiving everyone as swarms of minions from her beak sought to obscure the sun the bird said "things will go my way if I make Sloopy see that all the words that I can say mean she should stay with me" and so she spun a sticky string of sappy salivations she tried to stick on Sloopy, make her sick with slick summations she told her she was lowly in the eyes of every friend she told her those who loved her were just using her and then she made her think that bird was someone she should listen to and then presumed to tell her just what she thought she should do But Sloopy knew a toad who wouldn't let her get away The toad was one she trusted, and she knew him, by the way, And so the bird got busted and the toad hopped off to play (the minions all got toasted so the toad did feast all day) Yes Sloopy then got free from the sloppy mess bird made And learned this valued lesson from the way the bird got played: Sometimes things look beautiful but inside they are not Other times the ugly things are inwardly quite hot And those who seem to have it all together are quite lost The ugly oyster shell contains the pearl of greatest cost
