outside of timeless regions
outside of dust and star
an endless segment season
not quite sure of where we are
expanse within a window
where we had our rendezvous
and we don't feel the wind blow
though this passage carries through
to the place inside of time
where we'll once again be bound
to those narrow upward climbs
to the light and touch and sound
relegated then to dream of things
which now flow like a breeze
and quickly take momentum swings
which bring us to our knees
now, we don't want to strap you down
to other men's religions
and toss to chance what comes around
as if by homing pigeons
but let's remember there's a place
outside of rhyme and lyric
where eternity has a face,
they call Him the Great Spirit
granting us these earthly hikes
like treks outside of time
to rise above our whims and likes
the summit of our climb
where logic, jurisprudence,
benevolence, yes, and love
are one with me and you, hence
we learn to rise above
not by knowledge systems,
evolution, nor by might
but by three things (I'll list them)
that alone will guide our sight
faith, hope and charity
(so much more than corner stones)
defined by truth and verity
the word of God alone
for there's other voices out there
clever wiles and wicked schemes
to tie your soul in snares
and bring corrosion to your dreams
and so I speak with urgency
though time is not a factor
persuading you with care, you see
the devil's quite an actor
master of deceit and death
he makes it seem so cool
and many times we give him breath
alas, we play the fool
resisting gentle tugs and pulls
to get us where we need be
or giving in to stubborn bulls
and voices which cry, "feed me!"
but there's no need to fret (just yet)
we're still lost in this moment
which isn't time, lest we forget,
don't go where Edgar Poe went
too deep in darkness to return
and sealed his fate in letters
which rode the raven's wings to burn
in endless chains and fetters.
